    Quality

My first transaction with Impact went smoothly as hoped for. Shipping was quick and communication was good. The pistol is the expected rock solid tight Ruger. My pistol suffered from poor and missing finish. I contacted Ruger and they sent the RMA to “Make it Right.” Waiting for it to return. Overall very happy.

I have owned and carried my ruger for about two years and I have no issues with it other than it is a little bulky. I love it because you can shoot .357’s all day and it doesn’t wear you out at all. My dad has an s&w airweight and even .38’s are a beast to shoot. The Ruger SP101 is concealable but shoots like a full size. Can’t go wrong if your looking for a wheel gun.

I love this gun. I have run about 1000rds through it of 357’s and .38’s and it gobbles them up. really accurate for a snubby and handles full power 357’s just fine. I carry mine everyday without trouble.

Rugged, easy to shoot .357 mag

Posted by KAS on Dec 15th 2010

I?ve owned this pistol for a couple weeks. It is the 2? version in .357 Magnum.
So far I?ve only put a box (50 rounds) through this revolver, but I?m already pretty happy with it. Recoil is very manageable due to it being fairly weighty for a 2? revolver. It feels very nice in your hand, and points very naturally. At first I had some concerns with how easy it would be to get on target with the low profile fixed rear sight, but those concerns went out the window with the first shot. The sights are very easy to use.
I wouldn?t really consider this a great choice for concealed carry. It?s a little larger than some 2? 5-shot revolvers, so if that?s your main intended use, you might want to consider other pistols. Could you CC the SP101? Sure. But then again some folks are perfectly content carrying full-sized 1911?s. It?s up to your personal preference I suppose.
Fit & finish are excellent. The action & trigger are very crisp, and the stainless finish looks great. The other pistol I was considering is the Taurus 605. I don?t have anything against Taurus (my 1911 is a Taurus), but to me, the Ruger just felt like it was higher quality when I compared them side by side.
If I had one complaint, it?s the stock grip (rubber with plastic side plates). It?s OK, but nowhere near as comfortable as the optional Hogue rubber grip. When I purchased my pistol, the dealer also had a SP101 with the Hogue grip already installed . There is a substantial difference in comfort & handling with that grip. I did not buy that pistol, since it was the 3? version.
I bought this pistol for mainly two reasons; 1) So my wife can have something easier for her to pack & shoot than my 1911, and 2) So I can have something that is easier than my 1911 to carry while riding my dirt bike, while still being ruggedly built. It seems the Ruger SP101 is going to fit the bill quite well. Note that while I did not give this pistol the highest rating (as I don?t believe anything is ?perfect?), I believe it?s a very high-quality pistol at a very reasonable price.
